Read the S3 guide ↗What does the Kubernetes (VKE) service offer?
VKE (vMind Kubernetes Engine) is an open-source Kubernetes engine project developed by vMind. It automatically provides conveniences such as node-level autoscaling, load balancers and storage classes. You can create clusters from the console, with Terraform or through the API.
Explore the VKE service ↗Which responsibilities are included in managed Kubernetes with VKE?
VKE provides managed Kubernetes: node-level autoscaling, Load Balancer and storage classes come automatically. Applications, images, secrets, network policies, data protection and observability stay in your layer. The responsibility split is set out in the product documentation and service terms.
Which Kubernetes versions and upgrade model does VKE support?
VKE offers selectable Kubernetes versions on the cluster creation screen. Version and upgrade options are in the console and the VKE documentation.
How should networking and persistent data be planned on VKE?
VKE automatically provides load balancers for Kubernetes services and storage classes for persistent data. Protect stateful workloads with Block Storage and Backup.
Can VKE use GPU worker nodes?
GPU servers are offered on Compute, with H100, H200 and L40S options. VKE provides Kubernetes clusters with node-level autoscaling, Load Balancer and storage classes.
Which components shape managed Kubernetes cost?
Cost is set by the control-plane model, worker-node count and CPU/RAM profiles, persistent storage, Load Balancer, public IPs, data transfer, backup and runtime. The line items are in calculator.portvmind.com and the console resource creation screen.
Which workloads are a good fit for object storage?
Evaluate object storage when an application can read and write data by bucket and object key rather than through an attached disk. Media, static assets, logs, archives, backup packages and datasets are typical candidates. Block storage may be a better fit for operating-system disks, database files or frequent random block updates.
What is the difference between object storage and block storage?
Object storage manages data in buckets by object key and metadata through an API. Block storage attaches a disk-like volume to a server so the operating system can run a filesystem or database on it. The right choice depends more on access, update and latency needs than on capacity alone.
Is S3-compatible object storage identical to AWS S3?
You access buckets and objects through an S3-compatible API. Endpoints and credentials are created in the console. Supported operations are in the documentation.
How should existing S3 data be migrated to PortvMind Cloud Object Storage?
Copy your existing buckets to PortvMind Cloud Object Storage with S3-compatible tools. Endpoints and credentials are created in the console.
Are VPS, cloud server and Compute the same thing?
VPS and virtual server are market terms for virtual-server packages. On PortvMind Cloud that need is Compute: you create servers from the console or API and pay as you go.
How should I choose CPU, RAM and disk for a virtual server?
Web, database and AI workloads need different resources. Choose a profile in the console and grow the server as demand grows.
How do I migrate an existing virtual server to PortvMind Cloud Compute?
Move your application, disk and DNS records to PortvMind Cloud Compute. Try it on a test server first, then complete the cutover.
Which resources does PortvMind Cloud Backup protect?
Backup protects virtual-server instances, Block Storage volumes and Kubernetes PVC resources. Schedule, retention and restore target are configured in the console for each resource type.
Is a snapshot the same as a backup?
A snapshot is a point-in-time image of your volume, used for a fast rollback. Backup schedules and stores copies of your servers, volumes and Kubernetes PVC resources and restores them from the panel.
How are backup frequency and restore time set?
You set backup frequency and retention. Restore starts from the panel; the time depends on data size and the point you select. Service levels are in the SLA and the contract.
